Morning all
I have made the jump and as of Tuesday morning I’m starting on my own. I have started with a van and going mobile I have been advised by a few people to charge a call out fee for going to have a look at things that could be a no fault. as I have always worked in garages this is something I have never had to think about and was wondering what you guys on here think about this ?

I have a minimum charge for every job, the cost of getting me to your front door, no matter the outcome. Good luck with the new business, the mobile life is awesome šŸ‘

Quick tip mate, put a location on your business page so people actually know where you are and the area's you will travel to šŸ‘

As Steve said make sure that your location is clear and that it is also clear what areas you cover. Your social media is is great shop window so use this to attract the type of work and type of customer that you want. If charging a call out doesn't work then you could incorporate it into your minimum diag/assessment fee etc to include travel and upto an hour maybe? This covers you if you find a fault in 10 mins. Play around with how you word it to see what works best for you. Best of luck with your new business.

If you are going out, there has to be a minimum amount payable to cover fuel/insurance/wage/tooling etc this cost depends on the services you offer, target area, customer base and vehicles you want to work on.

A large majority of the public automatically assume call-outs are free, only rain is.

Have a listen to ASOG and other podcasts, plenty of food for thought. Matt Kassing on youtube has a nice no bull approach to his mobile work.
