Is upgrading to a paid membership worth it?

For me personally it definitely is! Have been a member of the Facebook group and had been considering joining on here for a while but never bothered to do it, joined a couple weeks ago and have already saved enough money through discounts from the SDN partners to more than cover my first years subscription, from that point of view it pays for itself! And then you basically get free access to all the knowledge and help that’s available on here! Only wonder why I never signed up sooner 👍🏻

I stumbled across the free simply diag facebook page by accident, thought the content on there was good so entered into the pay monthly SDN facebook network, then onto the next step up, THIS PORTAL! my eyes were opened! I thought I was a half decent master tech but when I witnessed the case studies and support on the paid group I was blown away, I instantly felt like a 1st year apprentice again, but in a good way. It sparked the fire into me to get back into the books, online training and practical training to better myself further, and try catch up with some of the gurus on here! It encouraged me not to rely on my work but invest in my own tool and training to get better, to get an edge on other techs at work and in local area. I would say considering I was already a qualified VW master tech in the 1st year being part of SDN my knowledge and diagnostic ability had went up 10 fold, I was no longer reliant on Odis generated test plans but could confidently diagnose almost any fault using basic and advanced diagnostic techniques with a much greater understanding of why I was getting the results on the meter or scope screen. This made me more valuable to my work but also encouraged me to go out into local garages doing diagnostic work on any make and model, and if the going gets tough, which it does, there is a mass of knowledge and support here from some great diagnosticians industry BIG GUNS. what I will say is the support in the open free section, is nothing like the support you get behind closed doors ;) I have also made some good friends through this and look forward to some geek meets when all this is over. thank you and goodnight :p

Brilliant mate had no idea that’s awesome I was in dealership for 10 yrs under a rock really I had no idea there so many people like minded now all in same place helping each other for £3,75 a week less than the auto trader if any one still buys it 🤦‍♂️😂

Absolutely 101%. I've been a member of SDN from the start and I know I'll always be a member. My first years membership paid for itself and more in the first month if I remember rightly, via the help I've had and the awesome discounts.

One thing I like the most, is that I feel like we're all part of a big family. I've always said, it's different to any other network I've been involved with. SDN is a far more professional place and the only place I feel comfortable being involved with trying to contribute to helping others. I've never once been made to feel stupid and only encouraged.

Oh and let's not forget, dedicated brand specialists that you can tag with your questions!! That on it's own makes SDN a must have, mind blowing that we have that level of support on here!

I think in the long run SDN will be one of my first checks when doing diag work like how I check alldata etc. I already have to an extent but with this new site, searching P codes, testing methods etc should be far easier.

There's a bright future for SDN and members I feel.

couldn't agree more pal, if it helps you fix one car year its worth it! I am confident SDN will be one of the biggest things to happen to this trade in the UK when its in full flow and I am super proud to be a part of it.

So SDN what does it do for me?
Basically earn me money...
Do we start with the job I was struggling with and members gave me guidance to make a quick accurate diagnosis so the job was turned around quickly with the right parts at the first visit keeping the customer happy and earning me money, and more importantly not wasting lots of time struggling to find the required information and potentially not having a first time fix.

Or do we mention the discounted training? I’ve got OVA and I don’t actually use the SDN discount 😂
I’ve done the dirty diesel weekend, and my Hybrid level 3, this is allowed me to join SDN partner HEVRA which pre lockdown was starting to pull in a whole new marketplace of customers again earning me more money

But more than this is the friendships I’ve made through the group, it’s given me an awesome arsenal of contacts at the end of the phone

After a little chat with stevie-p last night I thought I would give the paid membership ago my thoughts on the SD network is cheapest and probs one of the best diagnostic tool I will have. The amount of experience and keen learners there are is fantastic and for me it’s only been one day so👍 And look forward to some good conversation, helping people if they need it and getting help when I need it. I think we never stop learning and this is exactly what is needed to continue learning thanks for the advice stevie-p

If you take away all the great benefits on tool discounts, training discounts etc it would still be worth it if it saved you 2 hours labour time a year! 🤣

Even ignoring the discounts available, the amount of help and information available on here is worth it alone. For someone like me who is looking to learn and improve my diagnostic process then this site has been brilliant even in the short time I’ve been on here, from asking questions and receiving help to reading other people’s posts and the advice given to them it all helps you, for a small amount each month you really can’t go wrong! Looking forward to some sdn training dates getting put up once everything goes back to normal 👍🏻
