Have we got any heavy vehicle techs here?

That's one thing I found out working with fleet as there was a good amount of vans. working on them in many aspects was more of a pain in the arse, hence all the over techs would avoid them like the plauge and I would end up with them unfortunately.😞

Needless to say I'm not missing them with having moved to dealer.

Yes it would be, not a bad guess. 😁

I started my apprenticeship at Hill Hire before Ryder bought them. I did go back for a brief stint about 8 years ago and hated the place 🀣 My dad still works for them mobile doing all the trailers.

At the depot I was at as it was relatively small and we all got on well with each other, so it wasn't too bad, as long as you stayed out of the company politics.

One of the mobile guys pops in regularly and they just seem to be business as normal.

It was the politics I didn't like. We were one of the bigger depots. I've never worked at a place where you felt you were just a number more than there.

Yes we look after different fleet vehicles, just had a 5t sprinter in with rear lighting faults (from a car supplier that rhymes with car and zoo) and trying to work out the body builders wiring loom addition was a pain in the back side.

I've repaired so many of those sprinter rear light add on looms than I care to think about.

Yer it wasn't very well thought out. And some of the connectors where like a posh scotch lock connectorπŸ€”

That reminds me about a marker light that 'connector' clips around the twin core and pierces the wires for power. At least they were easy to why the side marker wasn't grafting, because you followed the wiring back and seen the 'connector' and were pretty much guaranteed that was the issue.

Another Indy here from sunny Kent, we are primarily Hgv but do pretty much anything, we have invested in a lot of kit over the years as I hate to turn anything away (unless its an MAN). We have just downgraded our Jaltest to the new V9 and have the Autel 908CV, Autocom ,Daf Davie, Scania Sdp3, Merc Xentry, Volvo Techtool plus we do remapping with the Dimsport Genius and Trasdata and not forgetting my Pico which I find I need more and more lately as the scantools try and play catch up. I do love a challenge and sometime get myself in a right pickle because I have to know WHY.
Its great to have a dedicated section as hopefully I'll be able to contribute more (y)
